50th Follower! THANK YOU!

Sweet! Last night I broke through 50 followers. I guess that means an award or something.

Blogfest?

Maybe later. I already have a great idea for that, but let's stay on-topic and talk about the ever-so-manly cherry cupcake award.

(EDIT) I modified the cupcake award to the BEER award. Much more my style... Sorry, but I had to warm up without you all.

Raquel Byrnes

First off, THANKS to Raquel Byrnes over at Nite Writer for my blog award! She is my sworn enemy, folks, because of this post right here: Body Language Blogfest Entry.

Anyone who pulls that sorta stunt on me is going down. She has a wonderful blog, and despite her evil nature, she's a dangerously talented writer!

Don't let the smile fool you folks. Pure evil. I'm telling you. Read her Body Language entry if you don't believe me.

Christine H.

My 50th follower was Mrs. Christine H over at Writer's Hole. I love her blog's name, since, as you know, if you read my blog title, I'm Digging With the Worms.

I love digging! Deep!

So on to Christine I pass this award. Check out her site and keep her encouraged! She's trudging through a first-draft fantasy with heavy character development. My kinda book, actually -- no cliche cardboard characters allowed, JRR sorta scenes. I'd love to read some of it when it's ready for public consumption.

Harley Palmer

I'd also like to recognize Harley Palmer over at Labotomy of a Writer for her series on editing and revising. If you haven't already, go check it out.

Her series is currently on WORLD BUILDING. Go back in time a bit and you'll find all sorts of goodies regarding how an editor thinks when reviewing your writing. She was even kind enough to sponsor a Q&A a few Saturdays ago.

Andrew Rosenberg

And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Write Runner. That's Andrew Rosenberg, and for some reason I love his website.

Dig around Write Runner and look for his series on writing, and check out some of his careful methodology for analyzing your books. This dude, folks, is my sorta crazy. I'd be happy to share my padded cell with Andrew. Hell, we might write something great!

That's him in the pic. Look at the insanity in those eyes. What a great Steampunk getup.

Oh, and don't forget his BAD GIRL blogfest, upcoming May 7.

Anyway, there are a TON of awesome blogs on my sidebar. Check em out. Believe it or not, I do pass up blogs that are not interesting or seem too commercial, so if I'm following you, it means I want to hear what you have to say.

Thank you all!

"This is a random drawing, I take it?"

It sure is! :) Good luck!

Thanks for the award!
If it wasn't for all these blogfests I could focus on adding more real content at some point...
And yes that's me in all my Steampunk glory...

Thank you very much Eric.

This is wierd, but absolutely true: After discovering your blog last night, I dreamed about worms. No fooling.

And, um, I'm embarassed to admit this, but I'm not on my first draft. This is something like the fourth revision of the second draft.

I keep going back to the beginning and starting over. sigh.

Yes, you are absolutely hired as a beta reader! I have some stuff up at The Golden Gryphon Novel if you want to get a little flavor of it.

Thanks so much! Um, where IS that beer, anyway?

Um, let me try that again:

Golden Gryphon Novel

Thanks for the Guiness. One of my favorites, mate!

Hey, I just noticed on the sidebar that you've got a Cub Scout too! I'm the den leader this year. It's so much fun! Last night I had them identify bird photos and bird sounds. We're working on our World Conservation Award. (My son's a Wolf.)

Andrew: Sure do like that steampunk suit. Freaking awesome. I'm starting to think I may need to poke into that genre.

Christine: JRR said of Lord of the Rings, paraphrased: "It had to be largely rewritten from end to beginning." Keep going!

I dream of worms all the time. I also hear whispering and knocking and I'm constantly checking my phone thinking it just went off and I missed a call or txt.

Christine: I checked out your Gryphon site and added some comments. Be careful about what advice you take, even mine.

Too many cooks ruin the soup, you know. Don't forget that YOU are the writer.

My son lost interest in Scouts. We go camping on our own, though, and do the animal watching gig and rope-tying and such, he (and I) just didn't like the formality and slow pace of Cub Scouts. We plan to backpack in a few weeks up in Ouachita Forest in Ark/Ok. FUN!

Lone Wolves would probably be our pack. Never been much on structured groups, and my boy's looking to have that same penchant.

Heck, even my boss at work calls me a rogue. Go figger.

Hey, congratulations on the 50th folower!

Despite my evil nature I am grateful for the shout out...even if it is probably part of some diabolical plan of yours. =)

I appreciate the encouragement...truly.

Read you on the blogfests!

Well, Eric, I hear what you are saying. However, I have an only child and if we didn't FORCE him to go do group stuff once in a while, he'd be on his lonesome all the time playing video games. So even if it means I have to be the den leader, I'm keeping him involved, whether he likes it or not! And when he complains, I say, "Hey, I work really hard on your den meetings!"

It sounds like you just need to find a better pack, or be the leader yourself, Mr. Independent!

Three things:

1- congrats on your fifty followers. That's a whole lot of awesome.

2- If you love worms, you must read DIARY OF A WORM. It would put a smile on anyone's face. Picture book with great humor. Reminds me of your spunk.

3- I have a Connor too, though mine's quite a bit older. Scout's honor.

Thanks for another fun post and some new sites to follow.

Thanks so much for the awesome plug Eric! It means so much to me - and I feel a bit famous really! It's nice to know that my efforts to share my knowledge is accepted and loved. I'll post up this award and such this weekend. Thanks again! It really made my day - and after such a stressful weekend, I surely needed a pick me up!
